  • Search for and manage information on the internet.
  • Use digital communication tools.
  • Create digital content and manage office automation applications.
  • Ensure device security and equipment maintenance.

To acquire the basic digital competencies that allow 'taking advantage of the wealth of new opportunities associated with digital technologies' in accordance with Recommendation 2006/962/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on key competences for lifelong learning.


Knowledge / Cognitive and Practical Skills

1. Basic Use of the Operating System

  • Different OS versions and available operating systems.
  • Startup, shutdown, and hibernation.
  • Basic software applications (web browser, file explorer, image viewer, etc.).
  • File and folder management.

2. Information Processing

  • Web browsing:
    • Different web browsers.
    • Browser navigation (tabs, browsing history, and bookmarks).
    • Basic settings (homepage setup, default search engine, clearing cache).
  • Information search:
    • Search engines.
    • RSS feeds.
  • Digital content storage and retrieval.

3. Digital Communication

  • Email services:
    • Webmail.
    • POP, IMAP, and SMTP email configuration on desktop and mobile clients.
  • Basic video conferencing tools (Skype, Google Meet / Hangouts, etc.).
  • Digital identity and online personal brand.

4. Content Creation

  • Basic office software (word processor and presentation software).
  • Copyright, licensing, and permissions when using online content.
  • File formats knowledge (.pdf, .doc, .docx, .jpg, .gif, .png, etc.).

5. Cybersecurity

  • Best practices for secure IT device usage (computers and mobile devices).
  • Safe browsing habits and guidelines.
  • Antivirus software.

6. Troubleshooting and System Maintenance

  • Operating system maintenance (system updates, disk scanning, defragmentation).
