  • Draft written correspondence and manage business travel.
  • Avoid misunderstandings and false cognates (false friends).

Acquire the necessary competencies to effectively and fluently resolve typical business scenarios in English, developing receptive (listening and reading) and productive (speaking and writing) communication skills generated by corporate activity.

Knowledge / Cognitive and Practical Skills

  1. Use of Business Language:
    • Application of distinct language registers across business relationships: Business-to-Business (B2B), Business-to-Consumer (B2C), and Business-to-Supplier.
    • Application of distinct language registers for specific business operations: Forming Partnerships/Corporations, Mergers, and Joint Ventures/Alliances.
    • Use of commercial timelines and scheduling: Agreeing on delivery dates, terms of payment, and establishing deadlines.
    • Description of business domains and corporate areas. Grammar and vocabulary relevant to specific business scenarios.
  2. Explaining Company Structure:
    • Explaining how to describe company organizational structures. Specialized phraseology and vocabulary.
    • Describing how to outline corporate organizational charts (organigrams). Usage of articles.
    • Explaining how to describe departmental functions and responsibilities. Present continuous tense.
    • Describing how to draft professional job profiles. Adverbs of time.
  3. Characterizing the Enterprise:
    • Defining the workplace and the office environment. Use of There is / There are.
    • Methods for giving directions and instructions. Countable and uncountable nouns, quantifiers.
    • Locating objects and physical assets. Prepositions of place.
    • Describing itineraries and directions. Compounds of How.
    • Conveying schedules and time connotations. Present continuous for future arrangements.
  4. Conducting Telephone Communications:
    • Sending and taking messages. Specialized phraseology and vocabulary.
    • Scheduling appointments and meetings. Future tenses.
    • Placing and taking orders.
    • Requesting and providing information.
  5. Written Correspondence and Business Travel:
    • Describing airport procedures, bookings, ticketing, dining, and directions.
    • Grammatical structures: Polite formulas, requests, interruptions, confirmations, etc.
    • Vocabulary usage: Words for polite requests and expressions of gratitude, dining terminology, ordinal numbers, requesting information, and seeking confirmation.
  6. Identifying Frequent Errors and False Cognates (False Friends):
    • Identifying and reviewing words and structures prone to misunderstandings or confusion, or that may be deemed offensive.

  • Awareness of the strategic importance of leveraging essential English language competencies within the enterprise.
  • Commitment to formal linguistic accuracy ensuring communication faithfully reflects the intentions of all interlocutors.
